The Stress that Divorce Takes on the Parents

Join us for a Collaborative Discussion on the stress divorce takes and how as collaborative professionals to help minimize it for families.

Gena Abel & Peggy Gummoe

  

Gena Abel-Barnes is the owner and founder of Abel Counseling, Consulting, and Mediation. Abel CCM is a private practice that supports Florida 1st and 2nd generation immigrants during challenging times in their life by providing individual and couples therapy, mediation services, and notary assistance. 

Since 2018, Gena has had the pleasure and opportunity to use her virtual practice to promote and facilitate improved communication and life fulfillment with individuals and couples. She is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator and supports couples before and after marriage to strengthen their definition of partnership and improve their intimacy. Gena uses Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered, and Strength-Based techniques to support, guide, and empower her clients as they work to achieve their goals.

As a Mediator, Gena combines the skills used in her therapy practice and her conflict resolution skills to assist everyday Floridians in resolving disputes on their terms.

Gena is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Florida Supreme Court-certified county mediator, and a Notary Public. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Masters degree in Counselor Education and her Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has been licensed in the state of Florida since 2014.

When she’s not working, Gena enjoys traveling with her husband and playing tug of war with their dog Queenie. She also enjoys sewing, dancing in her kitchen, and reading.

Peggy Gummoe L.C.S.W has been running a private practice in Tampa since 1993. Her private psychotherapy practice serves individuals, families, and groups. Outpatient, inpatient, and industrial consultation. She specializes in developing Parenting Plans, Family Therapy, Family Systems Reunification, Children of Divorce, Parent Coordination and Collaborative Law Facilitation, pre- and post-divorce couples counseling. Parent coaching/consulting, Reunification training for professionals, and Reintegration therapy.

Peggy is an appointed member of the Adjunct Faculty for the USF School of Social Work. She is also an appointed member of the Adjunct Faculty for Adelphi University Graduate School of Social Work.  Throughout her career, Peggy has designed and implemented numerous in-service training programs and workshops for mental health professionals.
